Sean Astin To Play Theodore Roosevelt In The Alienist
Lord of the Rings actor Sean Astin has been selected to portray Theodore Roosevelt in TNT‘s planned crime drama The Alienist.
Appearing in all three installments of the fantasy film trilogy, Astin portrayed Samwise Gamgee, the long-suffering friend and sidekick of series lead Elijah Wood‘s Bilbo Baggins. Since then, he has turned up in a number of noteworthy roles on TV shows and animated series’. He lent his voice as Special Agent Oso on Disney‘s show of the same name and as Raphael on Nickelodeon‘s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Right now, he can be seen on The Strain where he plays regular Jim Kent.
Set to play the 26th president of the United States on the upcoming series, the actor joins a cast that includes Daniel Bruhl, Luke Evans, and Dakota Fanning in leading roles.
