Director Matt Reeves Shares His Vision For The Batman

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves explains what he wants to do for Warner Bros. The Batman.

Having written and directed since the 1990’s, Reeves has worked on a number of noteworthy projects. Serving as a co-writer on Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, he went on to work on such series as Relativity, Homicide: Life on the Street, and Felicity, which he created with J.J. Abrams. More recently, he has directed films like Cloverfield, Let Me In, and War for the Planet of the Apes.

Speaking about his interpretation of the character, Reeves explained that he doesn’t see Batman as a superhero but rather as a tortured soul who is trying to reconcile his place in a world that is as filled with suffering as it is. This indicates that we will get an in-depth look at the Caped Crusader’s inner turmoil in the planned solo film.

Superherohype, the source of this story, shares the following information:

Recently Variety’s Justin Kroll put the word out that Reeves is contracted by Fox through June to complete work and promotion on Apes, which will push the Batman release date (originally earmarked for 2018) and filming schedule back a ways. While it was thought shooting would begin later this year, it now looks like cameras won’t roll until 2018.
