Marv Wolfman Talks About Joe Manganiello Playing Deathstroke In The Batman

Deathstroke co-creator Marv Wolfman offered his thoughts about Magic Mike actor Joe Manganiello portraying the character in The Batman.

As anyone who has been following the solo DC Comics film knows, however, Manganiello’s involvement with the movie may be in jeopardy due to what is being described as a complete overhauling of the project by Warner Bros following star Ben Affleck‘s departure from the director’s chair. This means that someone else may end up playing the role that has been allocated to Manganiello for some time now.

That all being said, the actor has at least one prominent voice in his corner in the form of Wolfman, who took to Facebook to share his thoughts on the casting. After meeting with Manganiello, the veteran comic writer said that he was “more confident than ever” that he was perfect for the part of Slade Wilson.

CBR.com, the source of this story, shares the following about the character:

Deathstroke, of course, was created by Wolfman, along with George Pérez, back in 1980, and the character would make his first appearance in the pages of “New Teen Titans” #2 in December of that year. While Wolfman’s praise is by no means official conformation that Manganiello is still 100% on-board, they certainly hold a lot of weight when it comes to the former “True Blood” star’s casting.
