Chris Terrio Writes New Draft Of The Batman Script

Academy Award-winning Argo screenwriter Chris Terrio has contributed a new draft of a script for Warner Bros’ proposed The Batman film.

The news comes in the wake of Ben Affleck‘s unexpected announcement earlier this week that he would not be directing the solo DC Comics movie after all. The actor, who previously worked with Terrio on the aforementioned Argo, clarified that he would still stay on in acting and producing roles for the project. In addition, Affleck penned the original draft of the script with veteran comic writer Geoff Johns.

Terrio already has experience in the DC Extended Universe however. He wrote the screenplay for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and will similarly write one for the planned Justice League film.

The source of this story is Superherohype, which had this to share about the production:

Affleck is still set to produce and star in the feature film, whose logline is mostly a mystery but will feature Joe Manganiello as Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, with additional appearances by Jeremy Irons as Alfred and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon expected to happen as well.

The hunt is on now for a new director to step behind the camera, with previous reports indicating that Captain Fantastic director Matt Ross and War for the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves are on the shortlist.
