THE BFG (2016): First Poster for Steven Spielberg’s New Film

The BFG Poster

First Poster Released for Steven Spielberg’s The BFG. Disney’s new live-action take on The BFG is looking to be a grand adventure based on this first poster of the beloved classic children’s book. The poster features Sophie (Ruby Barrnhill) as she looks up to her new giant friend.

The new poster acknowledges that this film is coming from renowned filmmaker Steven Spielberg and author Roald Dahl, whose other work includes Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda. The poster shows co-lead Sophie, who stands tall with her new friend, played by Mark Rylance. We don’t get to see the whole giant himself, only showing his humongous feet.

The BFG follows a giant who isn’t like others of his kind. Described as a Big Friendly Giant, he stands 24-feet tall with big ears and a keen sense of smell, he can be silly and keeps to himself most of the time. However, there are other giants who are twice as big and scarier. They also eat humans, but The BFG would rather eat Snozzcumber and Frobscottle. 10-year-old Sophie stumbles upon The BFG’s habitat known as Giant Country, far off from her home in London. She gets frightened at first at this mysterious giant who brings her to his cave, but soon grows attached to him and curious about others of his kind. The BFG brings Sophie to Dream Country where he collects dreams and sends them to children, teaching he about the magic and mystery of his world.
