THE BLACKLIST: Spin-Off To Feature Famke Janssen [NBC]

Jamke Fanssen

Famke Janssen to headline The Blacklist spin-off program. The X-Men and Taken star will lead a new show set in the same universe as the NBC espionage drama.

Janssen is slated to play Susan “Scottie” Halstead, a new character who is to make her debut towards the end of the current season. The idea is that the episode in which she is introduced will act as a pilot of sorts for the proposed spin-off program, allowing producers to test Janssen’s character before audiences and gauge their reactions.

Starring James Spader as Raymond “Red” Reddington, The Blacklist has captivated legions of viewers since it’s debut in 2013. On hiatus at the moment, the show’s third season is set to resume in April:

In season three, FBI Agent Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone, Law & Order: LA) is now a fugitive and on the run with Reddington. With Assistant FBI Director Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) under investigation, a conflicted Agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) leads the FBI Task Force on a massive manhunt for Liz and Red – who are more dangerous together than apart, since Liz has expert knowledge of FBI procedures and no one exceeds Red’s vast resources. As they struggle to stay one step ahead of their former colleagues, and Liz immerses herself in Red’s underworld of disreputable contacts and covert operations, will the list of this season’s new Blacklisters play a key role in their survival or their demise? Liz is on an unpredictable journey of self-discovery, and all the pieces of her life, including her indefinable relationship with Tom (Ryan Eggold), will be drastically challenged as she continues to believe Red holds all the answers.
