According to FirstShowing, “The story follows a man (Paul Schneider) who returns home to discover a long-buried family secret, and whose attempts to put things right threaten the lives of those he left home years before. The Daughter is both written & directed by actor-turned-filmmaker Simon Stone, making his feature directing debut with this film. Featuring Geoffrey Rush, Miranda Otto, Anna Torv, Sam Neill, Paul Schneider. This premiered at the Sydney and Melbourne Film Festivals late last year, with a release in Australia planned for next year. It most recently played up at TIFF and the Venice Film Festival. The Daughter is still seeking US distribution.”
