THE FLASH (2018): Rick Famuyiwa To Direct

Rick Famuyiwa The Flash

Rick Famuyiwa set to direct The Flash. The Confirmation director and Dope screenwriter has been selected to bring the ultra-fast DC superhero to the big screen for Warner Bros.

The addition of Famuyiwa to the production resolves the issue of who will direct the film since Seth Grahame-Smith, who was previously attached to direct it, left the project a month ago. He will be working with a treatment put together by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the two minds behind the highly-successful Lego Movie.

With Warner Bros. seemingly electing to make the film version of The Flash different from it’s CW TV show of the same name, it will be interesting to see how Famuyiwa puts his own spin on the character:

Ezra Miller (We Need to Talk About KevinThe Perks of Being a Wallflower) will play Barry Allen, aka The Flash, following his recent cameo appearance in this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Miller’s version of the Flash is also set to appear in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Justice League Part One alongside a full roster of iconic DC heroes, including Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Henry Cavill’s Superman. Willem Dafoe is also attached in a mystery role while the film is expected to also feature appearances by Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Making their big screen DC Universe debuts are Amber Heard as Mera and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.
