THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE (2013): Sequel Officially Titled

The Hunger Games Catching Fire

The Hunger Games sequel titled The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The sequel to The Hunger Games being called The Hunger Games: Catching Fire instead of just Catching Fire is a bit odd. When The Dark Knight became the official title for the sequel to Batman Begins, people knew it was the title for the sequel to Batman Begins.

It seems Lionsgate didn’t believe in the intelligence of its audience or The Hunger Games fan base, both for the book and the film. Keeping that in mind, they went the Twilight and Pirates of the Caribbean route and have made the title of the first successful film the beginning title for all the remaining films.

Others see the naming of Catching Fire the elongated The Hunger Games: Catching Fire differently, also using Twilight as an example:

When it came to creating brand recognition, Summit Entertainment really nailed it with the Twilight franchise. When the sequels were being produced they didn’t simply call them Eclipse or New Moon, but rather extended the title but putting The Twilight Saga: in front of it.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be directed by Francis Lawrence and star Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, and others.
