Roel Reine To Helm Two-Part Pilot For The Inhumans

The Man with the Iron Fists 2 director Roel Reine is set to serve as director for the two-part pilot episode of ABC‘s The Inhumans.

The series, which is one of many between the network and Marvel Entertainment, will debut in a most unconventional manner. Instead of premiering on ABC, the first episode will play in IMAX theaters around the world for two weeks this September before migrating to television. One wonders whether such an extravagant opening is warranted for a network action series, but it will be interesting to see if the move is worth it.

Although he is not a household name, Reine nevertheless has quite a lot of experience in the world of direct-to-video filmmaking. He has helmed such projects as Death Race 2 and Death Race 3: Inferno, but also worked on such noteworthy productions as Admiral and The Delivery.

Per Comingsoon.net:

Recently, Roel Reiné directed an episode of Black Sails that is set to air next month as part of the STARZ series’s final season.

The Inhumans, a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers, were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965. Since that time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and iconic characters in the Marvel Universe. Marvel’s The Inhumans series will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family.
