THE KILLING: Season 3 of the TV Show to Air on AMC, Not NetFlix

Mireille Enos Joel Kinnaman The Killing

The Killing Season 3 airing on AMC. The third season of The Killing will not be airing on NetFlix as it once was but AMC, the TV series’ original home. NetFlix, the streaming service, “is chipping in for the licensing cost, and The Killing is now on track to return for a third season in May 2013.” The Killing‘s revival after its cancellation has not been officially announced by AMC or NetFlix but there are other indicators available. “Though neither the cabler nor producer Fox Television Studios would confirm, showrunner Veena Sud and exec producers Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin went back to the writers’ room this week to begin work on a third season of the moody drama. The new season will likely launch in late May [2013], with production set to begin in a few months.”

On the possible plotline for season 3 of The Killing:

Since the central Rosie Larsen murder mystery was finally resolved at the end of Season 2, the show will presumably shift focus to a new storyline. That, in turn, suggests that not all of the major players from Season 1 and 2 will be returning. Michelle Forbes and Brent Sexton, who played the murder victim’s parents, seem unlikely to return, while Billy Campbell, whose character was elected mayor in the Season 2 finale, probably will. Leads Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, both of whom have found success on the big screen in the off season, are expected to return.

What do you think of the revival of the series? I am looking forward to the new season, what the mayor does, and the dynamic between the detectives.
