The Light Between Oceans‘ plot synopsis: based on the novel by M.L. Stedman, “On a remote Australian island in the years following World War I, lighthouse keeper Tom Sherbourne (Michael Fassbender) and his wife, Isabel (Alicia Vikander), discover a boat washed ashore carrying a dead man and a two-month old baby. Rescuing the infant, they make the decision to raise her as their own but the consequences of their choice prove to be devastating.”
From this trailer, this film looks very good. This film, which loos like it contains Terrence Malick visual elements, seems like an emotional rollercoaster ride of love and loss. I have not read the book yet but why doesn’t Tom and Isabel report the dead body and the baby to the police? The rationale behind that decision is most-likely one of the central issues of the book and the film.
The Light Between Oceans also stars Emily Barclay, Anthony Hayes, Leon Ford, Florence Clery, Thomas Unger, and Scott Wills.
