Tim Curry Cast In The Rocky Horror Picture Show Remake. The star of the original 1975 musical will appear in Fox‘s TV movie reinterpretation of the cult classic planned for release this coming fall.

Curry expressed his pleasure at being involved in the new project, stating that he was “very happy and excited” to take part in it. Revisiting the campy, horror-inspired musical a little over 40 years after it’s debut on the big screen, Curry will be playing the Criminologist, a dignified, indifferent character who acts as the narrator of the film. The role was originally portrayed by Charles Gray, who, among other notable roles, played James Bond nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld in Diamonds Are Forever.

In that iteration of the film, Curry turned in a legendary performance as the evil Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a mad, cross-dressing alien scientist whose selfishness and depravity were exceeded only by his musical abilities. He had previously played the role in Richard O’Brien’s London stage production in 1973, but it was the film version that made Tim Curry and with him, The Rocky Horror Picture Show household names.

As of now, Curry is the only member of the original film set to appear in the TV remake. Many of the other roles have already been cast, with several notable names popping up. Per The Wrap:

He joins joins previously announced cast members Laverne Cox (Dr. Frank-N-Furter), Victoria Justice (Janet), Ryan McCartan (Brad), Adam Lambert (Eddie), Reeve Carney (Riff Raff) and Staz Nair (Rocky).

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” follows sweethearts Janet and Brad, who stumble upon Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s bizarre abode. Frank-N-Furter, a sexually ambiguous, flirtatious alien mad-scientist, is holding an annual, Transylvanian science convention to showcase the birth of Rocky Horror, a fit, attractive man created solely to fulfill Frank’s desires.
