THE SANDMAN: Joseph Gordon-Levitt Gives Update on Film

The Sandman

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Gives News on The Sandman. It’s been almost a year since we heard any news on Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial effort The Sandman. Well, the filmmaker/actor gave us an update on the film adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s comic book series.

Speaking on Reddit AMA, Joseph has been working with screenwriters David S. Goyer and Jack Thorne on the screenplay with some great feedback from Neil Gaiman. “Been doing a lot of work with David Goyer and Jack Thorne,” the filmmaker said, “working on the screenplay. We’ve been doing our meetings at the DC office, which is a frickin rad place to work. Also just had a great conversation last week with David and Mr. Gaiman. Neil has been extremely big hearted with me, and he’s the one I want to please most.”

David Goyer also gave an update to Deadline, revealing that the first draft of the screenplay has already been given to Warner Bros. “I hesitate to definitively say when it might go before the cameras,” says Goyer, “but the one thing different between other iterations and ours is that Neil Gaiman has been in the room with us and is a vital part of the team. We have a draft Warner’s is very happy with and we’re moving forward, knock on wood.”

Sandman, which launched under DC’s Vertigo imprint, ran for 75 issues from 1989. The comic series told the anthology of Dream, one of the seven Endless that includes his brothers and sisters who are Destiny, Death, Despair, Desire, Delirium, and Destruction.

Hopefully we will see the finished product soon, so we wish the team good luck. Are you guys excited for The Sandman?
