THE SHALLOWS (2016) Movie Trailer 2: Blake Lively Tries to Outwit Killer Shark

Blake Lively The Shallows

The Shallows Trailer 2. The second movie trailer for Jaume Collet-Serra‘s The Shallows (2016) has been released. This trailer is much better than the first trailer for this film, by far. One of the best plot elements is that the beach Nancy (Blake Lively) is surfing on is isolated, a place very few people know about or get to without intricate directions. There are numerous body shots of Blake (of course) in this trailer, scenes of her surfing, etc. then the trailer shifts to the shark attacks. There have been a lot of shark attack films that have tried to tap into what Jaws was able to decades ago. None have been successful. The Shallows is the latest contender.

The problem with this trailer is that they showed too much of the second and third act of the film in the trailer. They showed how Nancy gets out of numerous precarious situations when they should have left that to the imagination or at least for the viewer that sits down to watch the film.

The Shallows‘ plot synopsis: “In the taut thriller The Shallows, Nancy (Blake Lively) is surfing alone on a secluded beach when she is attacked by a great white shark and stranded just a short distance from shore. Though she is only 200 yards from her survival, getting there proves the ultimate contest of wills. It’s Jaws for a new generation.”

The Shallows also stars Óscar Jaenada and Sedona Legge.
