THE WALKING DEAD: Key Art for Sixth Season’s Second Half Releases [AMC]

The Walking Dead Season Six Image EW

New Image and Key Art for Midseason Premiere of The Walking Dead’s Sixth Season. We are only less than a month away from the midseason premiere of The Walking Dead as it resumes its sixth season. To get us prepared for the show’s return, AMC released a new key art and image.

In the new key art released by EW, we see some snippets of images from different locations, including ones with Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes and Lennie James’ Morgan Jones as the tagline reads ‘A Larger World’. It appears that Rick’s group may have left Alexandria after what transpired in the fall finale, and now they must navigate a bigger world full of danger lurking in every corner. The second image shows us two people holding hands as the zombies are about to reach them from behind. So what does this all mean?

Creator Robert Kirkman spoke with EW regarding where things pick up during the back half of the zombie hit’s current season. “Yeah, we actually don’t get back to that for seven episodes or so,” Kirkman said. “It’s going to be quite a cliff-hanger.” Hold on, seven episodes? “Nah, I’m joking,” says the EP. “We pick up right in that moment. Alexandria is overrun. Rick and the kids are all covered in guts trying to get through the crowd. Everyone is where we last saw them, and things get worse from there.”

Kirkman also explained that the group will have to find a way to rebuild the community they once lost. “It comes back to those plans of rebuilding Alexandria,” says Kirkman. He adds:

Assuming some people survive, and it’s a good bet that some do because they’ve already talked in the midseason finale that they’re not planning on leaving Alexandria. It’s a bump in the road, but there’s something special there, and they can turn this into an anchor that they can build upon. They actually have a chance at surviving long term and building a safe place, not going from safety to safety to safety the way they have for the life of the show. This isn’t the prison, and ‘Oh, we gotta move on from here and find another place.’ This is something different. And from there, there will be other things that expand their world in new and terrifying ways.
