THE WHITE PRINCESS: Amy Manson Joins Miniseries [Starz]

Amy Manson

Amy Manson joins the cast of The White Princess. The Once Upon a Time actress will also be joined by Andrew Whipp and Patrick Gibson on the Starz historical fiction adaptation.

Another addition to the miniseries comes in the form of Alex Kalymnios, who is slated to direct three episodes of the show. A rising director of TV, Kalymnios has worked on such productions as Salem, Cleveland Abduction, and Being Human, which proved to be a success with critics and viewers when it first aired on the BBC.

Manson will portray Lady Catherine Gordon, a cousin of Scotland’s King James IV and object of affection of “The Boy”, whose questionable claims to the English throne jeopardize the stability of the realm:

Whipp rounds out the cast as Richard Pole, supporter and former soldier of Henry VII, whose marriage to Elizabeth’s cousin Margaret Plantagenet (Rebecca Benson) reinforces the alliance between the Houses of York and Lancaster under Tudor rule.

They join previously cast Jacob Collins-Levy as Henry VII, Jodie Comer (Princess Elizabeth), Essie Davis (Elizabeth Woodville), Joanne Whalley (Duchesss of Burgundy), Michelle Fairley (Margaret Beaufort) and Suki Waterhouse (Cecily of York).

Adapted from Philippa Gregory’s best-selling novel and part of The Cousins’ War book series, The White Princess sees England ostensibly united by the marriage of Elizabeth of York and King Henry VII, but their personal and political rift runs deep and the war that rages between them threatens to tear the kingdom apart once again.
