The Wicker Tree Movie Trailer has premiered. Robin Hardy‘s The Wicker Tree (2010) stars Christopher Lee, Honeysuckle Weeks, Graham McTavish, Clive Russell, and Callum Mitchell. The Wicker Tree‘s plot synopsis: “Beth and Steve, a gospel singer and her cowboy boyfriend, [are] both Christian members of a no-sex-before-marriage pact they call ‘the silver ring thing.’ They leave Texas to preach door-to-door in Scotland. When, after initial abuse, they are welcomed with joy and elation to Tressock, the border fiefdom of the sinister Lachlan Morrison, they assume their hosts want to simply hear more about Jesus. How innocent and wrong they are.” Those naughty religious zealots. When are they going to learn? Like Red State and countless other horror films were religion has been perverted into violence and covert sexual pleasures, The Wicker Tree doesn’t seem to house anything new to this horror sub-genre except for the fact that the female protagonist seems to be a back-birth.
The Wicker Tree is being called a companion piece to the original 1973 film, The Wicker Man. Actor Christopher Lee stars in both films, but in this second film he will have a smaller role due to an injury.
