FOX Gives Greenlight To Additional Season Of The X-Files
Fox has decided to go ahead and renew the network’s classic science fiction series The X-Files for another season later this year.
Last year, the show returned to the airwaves after ending its initial nine-year run over a decade ago for a special, six-episode event. Debuting in 1993, The X-Files propelled leads David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to stardom and proved to be one of the most successful television programs of the 90’s. Indeed, it was this lasting appeal that led to series creator Chris Carter deciding to revive the show for its run last spring.
Production on the new season of the program is set to start this summer, with Fox planning to make a total of 10 new episodes. Whether this means that the show will continue after the new season concludes remains to be seen.
