Jeff Goldblum The Grandmaster Thor

Jeff Goldblum Talks About His Role as The Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok. Jeff Goldblum is about to become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his role as The Grandmaster in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, and the actor is excited to play this ancient being.

Empire recently chatted with Jeff Goldblum during his promotion for next month’s Independence Day: Resurgence about his next role as an Elder of the Universe for Thor’s next adventure. The Oscar-nominated actor shared some details on his portrayal of the character and the reason behind him accepting the role. “He’s a hedonist, a pleasure-seeker,” he said. “He’s an enjoyer of life and tastes and smells. I thought, ‘I can do that, I’ll bet!’ I’m working on my part every day. I’m a sponge, researching. [Taika Waititi] is encouraging me to improvise and make it my own, and that’s what I’m trying to do. I hope he doesn’t throw me out on the first day!”

Jeff Goldblum added that his scenes in the film would only take “three weeks or a month” to shoot in Brisbane, Australia. Principal photography is already scheduled to take place beginning on July 4th. Goldblum also had some nice things to say about working with a star-studded cast. “Not only Chris Hemsworth, Cate Blanchett, Anthony Hopkins… jeez, that’s gonna be fun. I’ve never been to Australia except to do these little publicity things.”
