TITANS: TNT Passes on Live-Action Teen Titans TV Series

TNT Titans

TNT Pulls the Plug on Titans. After more than a year in development, TNT has decided to call it quits on making Titans, the live-action superhero series based on the Teen Titans. Even though the cable network passed up the project, can it still be made on another network?

TNT’s Titans was supposed to be filmed last October, but there hasn’t been word on production or who has been cast for the main leads. All we knew was that it would’ve revolved around Dick Grayson, Batman’s trusted sidekick who goes by the name of Nightwing. Nightwing would be coming out of his mentor’s shadow and lead his own team featuring the likes of Starfire, Raven, Hawk & Dove, and Barbara Gordon/Oracle. Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman was attached to pen the pilot at the time when TNT had its hands on the pilot.

However, TNT President Kevin Reilly told reporters (via THR) at the Television Critics Association’s Press Tour in Pasadena that they were no longer interested in developing the series. “We just decided it wasn’t quite where we wanted to go,” he said, confirming that the series isn’t being made at TNT. That leaves us with one question: Will another network pick up Titans? The CW would be a likely choice, but it did also pass up on Supergirl. Perhaps no other network has picked it up because Warner Bros. is considering bringing the team to the big screen.

It’s too early to tell for now, but what do you guys think about this? Does Titans have a future in TV or in film?
