TNT Snags Cable Rights to Air Marvel’s Next Five Films. The success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to be rubbing off on TNT after the cable network signed a deal to give them the television rights to Marvel Studio’s next five upcoming films.
According to ComicBookResources, TNT would be able to air Marvel’s next five films starting with next year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. The other films included in the deal are the untitled Captain America 3 and Ant-Man. Marvel hasn’t given any other information on what the next releases will be after the Winter Soldier sequel, even though Marvel Studios already has spots for two other future releases in July 8, 2016 and May 5, 2017.
The five films will premiere on TNT more than two years after their theatrical releases.
TNT Senior Vice President Deborah K. Bradley released a statement regarding the successful move for TNT snagging the rights to Marvel’s next big releases. “Marvel’s brand of entertainment is a thrill ride for audiences, and we’re excited to be adding their next five blockbusters to TNT’s arsenal of high-quality genre fare,” said Deborah, who is also the head of program acquisitions, content strategy and licensing. “These movies will play a key role in TNT’s long-term success, especially among key adult demos.”
