Ashley Miller, Zack Stentz may write Top Gun sequel. If Top Gun 2 rolls into production, X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are being courted to be the writing team behind it. I see no need for a sequel to Top Gun and this seems like nothing more than the powers that be cashing in on the brand name Top Gun. If the potential film is so strong, why not call it something else? We are in “The Season of Remakes and Sequels” so this movie news is no big surprise. Next up, A Days of Thunder sequel.
Whether the Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz negotiations are successful, the sequel will to be produced by Jerry Bruchkheimer and David Ellison for Skydance Productions and Paramount Pictures, though no official word has been released by the movie studio or the production company.
If the sequel does move forward, I would expect Tony Scott and/or Tom Cruise to get involved in some capacity, either in front or behind the camera.

As you can expect, plot details are non-existent. It is not known yet if Tony Scott or Tom Cruise will be involved in the sequel at this time.
I did not like the entirety of X-Men: First Class (reviewed here: X-Men: First Class (2011) Movie Review) but I did like portions of it and I can see why Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are being sought. X-Men: First Class has made $352,616,690 world wide since it premiered in theaters.
