Revolution, Community, Believe, Crisis, and other TV shows Canceled. NBC‘s Revolution, Community, Believe, Dracula, and Crisis have been canceled along with Growing Up Fisher, ABC‘s Suburgatory, Super Fun Night, Trophy Wife, The Neighbors, and Mixology.
On Community‘s cancellation:
Community didn’t hit it out of the park in Season 5 but it didn’t blow it either, staying very close to the Season 4 average, which had earned a renewal. It averaged a 1.5 rating in adults 18-49, down 0.1 from last season, and actually gained viewership — 3.7 million vs. 3.5 million last season.
On Revolution‘s cancellation:
The JJ Abrams/Eric Kripke post-apocalyptic drama is long ways from where it was last season when it was riding high with a lot of buzz and solid ratings behind The Voice on Mondays. The heavily serialized series started to lose steam after the long hiatus between the fall and spring half-season. And it has been a ho-hum performer in the low-trafficked Wednesday 8 PM slot this season, a shadow of its former glory. It has been stable, keeping the lights on in the hour. That wasn’t enough, especially given the high price tag on the show.
On Suburgatory and Super Fun Night:
Suburgatory and The Neighbors‘ fate was sealed last night when ABC picked up to series comedy pilots Selfie, from Suburgatory creator Emily Kapnek, and Galavant, from The Neighbors creator Dan Fogelman….[Suburgatory] The series started meandering creatively in Season 2. It attempted a reboot in Season 3 with casting and setting changes but that failed to bring viewers back.
On Crisis and Believe:
NBC…formally pulled the plug of underperforming midseason dramas Believe and Crisis…The dramas had the odds stacked against them with challenging slots on Sunday night.
On Dracula:
Dracula (1.8) premiered stronger than Hannibal (1.6 in Season 1, 1.1 in Season 2). It lost steam after the solid debut, and there had been some issues with star Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who received good reviews, during the shoot.
