TV Casting: AMERICAN CRIME STORY, HELL ON WHEELS, Greg Grunberg in HEROES REBORN

American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, Hell on Wheels, Heroes Reborn, and other TV productions have made recent TV show casting, TV movie casting, and TV directing news. These shows and movies air on FX, AMC, and NBC.

Shadowhunters (ABC Family)

Matthew Daddario (Delivery Man) and Isaiah Mustafa (Horrible Bosses) are the latest to join the cast of Shadowhunters

Daddario will play Alec Lightwood, who joins Jace and his sister, Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia), in their pursuit of demonic creatures. He’s tortured by his romantic love for Jace, who is his adoptive brother and fighting partner. The eldest of the group, his strict moral code forces him to follow the law to the letter. Mustafa is Luke Garroway, an NYPD detective investigating a string of “demonic” murders. Luke feels a fatherly instinct to protect Clary, a strong affection for Jocelyn and has secrets of his own. Once a strong and powerful Shadowhunter, he has since become the thing he once hated most – a werewolf pack leader.

American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson (FX)

Selma Blair is set to pay TV reality star and Kardashian clan matriarch in the the miniseries

In the mini, Kris Jenner is still Kris Kardashian, married to Simpson’s attorney and confidant Robert Kardashian.

Steven Pasquale is set to portray the former LAPD detective Mark Fuhrman in the anthology

Fuhrman was the detective investigating the slayings of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman who subsequently pleaded no contest to perjury charges and accepted a plea deal following his testimony in the Simpson murder trial. He is the only person to have been convicted of criminal charges stemming from the Simpson case.

Gbenga Akinnagbe also has joined the cast of FX’s American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson…He will play Dennis Schatzman, the journalist who jumped on the O.J. Simpson soapbox to cry out about the LAPD’s war against African-Americans.

Daredevil (Netflix)

Rosario Dawson…has signed on to reprise her role as Claire Temple in the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil for premiere in 2016 on Netflix. It’s part of a larger exclusive TV deal that also will allow her to appear in any of Marvel’s other Netflix original series

The Young Pope (HBO)

Jude Law will topline Italian director Paolo Sorrentino’s TV series, with the working title “The Young Pope,” about an imaginary pontiff who is the first Italian-American pope in history.

Law will play Lenny Belardo, a conservative American pontiff recruited by a Vatican fed up with liberals. “No one, even at the Vatican, is prepared for how hard-line this American pope really is”

All eight episodes will be directed by Sorrentino and are written by Sorrentino in collaboration with Grisoni, Umberto Contarello (“The Great Beauty”) and Stefano Rulli.

A press statement described the character, who becomes Pius XIII, “a complex and conflicted character, so conservative in his choices as to border on obscurantism, yet full of compassion towards the weak and poor. He is a man of great power who is stubbornly resistant to the Vatican courtiers, unconcerned with the implications to his authority. During the series, Belardo will face losing those closest to him and the constant fear of being abandoned, even by his God. A man who is however not afraid of undertaking the millennial mission of defending that same God and the world representing Him.”

The Leftovers (HBO)

Steven Williams (The X-Files) has joined the upcoming second season of HBO drama series The Leftovers in a recurring role opposite Justin Theroux…Williams will play Virgil, an outcast who proves to be an unlikely confidant to Kevin Garvey (Theroux).

Narcos (Netflix)

Gabriela De La Garza (Cantinflas) has booked a recurring role on Netflix’s drama series Narcos…De La Garza…will play real-life journalist Diana Turbay, who crosses paths with Escobar and Peña.

Preacher (AMC)

Tom Brooke has landed a series regular role in AMC’s drama pilot Preacher

Brooke…will play Fiore. In the books, he is one of the two Adephi angels sent to Earth to retrieve Genesis.

Hell On Wheels (AMC)

Reg Rogers (The Americans, The Knick) and Tzi Ma (24, Million Dollar Arm) have signed on as series regulars for the fifth and final season of AMC’s Hell On Wheels, joining Tim Guinee who was recently promoted to regular, and Byron Mann.

Rogers…will play James Strobridge, the tough-as-nails construction superintendent for the Central Pacific Railroad. Losing an eye to a blasting accident hasn’t quieted his temper or tempered his sense of humor. He lives with his wife and six adopted children in a train car at the end of rails. Ma plays Tao, who comes from a village in Guangdong in Southern China, and is now “head man” for a group of Chinese railroad workers on the Central Pacific. A former scholar and graduate of a British engineering school in China, his natural leadership abilities and facility with the English language make him essential to Cullen’s work on the Central Pacific. He’s a highly capable man but harbors a secret, and goes out of his way to avoid attention.

Graves (Epix)

“Graves” will see the Oscar-nominated [Nick Nolte] as a former U.S. President. Twenty years after his presidency, he realizes that his policies have damaged the country. So, with his young assistant, he goes on a quest to right his administration’s wrongs just as his wife decides to follow her own political ambitions.

Berlin Station (Epix)

American spy novelist Olen Steinhauer (“The Cairo Affair,” “All The Old Knives”) will write…the series.

Heroes Reborn (NBC)

Greg Grunberg is set to reprise his role as the telepathic detective Matt Parkman in the upcoming limited series, Heroes Reborn…he will have a guest-starring arc on the show.

Ash vs. Evil Dead (Starz)

Mimi Rogers (“Mad Men,” ”NCIS”) has joined the cast of the highly anticipated STARZ series “Ash vs. Evil Dead”…Rogers will play Suzy Maxwell, a woman who is reunited with her family and several uninvited guests after a freak accident.
