TV Casting: ARROW, OUTCAST, Jim Carrey in I’M DYING UP HERE

Arrow, Outcast, I’m Dying Up Here, and other TV productions have made recent TV show casting, TV movie casting, and TV directing news. These shows and movies air on The CW, Cinemax, and Showtime.

The Simpsons (Fox)

Bart Simpson could do much worse for his new teacher than Sofia Vergara’s Mrs. Berrera.

The bombshell “Modern Family” actress will guest star on an upcoming episode of Fox’s “The Simpsons”

She may return beyond the currently in-the-can midseason episode “Teenage Mutant Milk-Caused Hurdles”

Arrow (The CW)

Rutina Wesley is in talks to join The CW’s hit show “Arrow” for a multi-episode arc

She would join other recently announced stars like “Teen Wolf” actor JR Bourne, whom…was taking on the role of DC comics villain Double Down on the show

Parker Young will have a significant role for the fourth season of this hit show.

Young…will play Alex Davis, described as a smart and driven young man, who will work for Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and become a potential love interest for Thea (Willa Holland).
How To Get Away With Murder (ABC)

Matt Cohen (Supernatural) has signed on for a recurring arc on ABC’s How To Get Away With Murder. Cohen will play Levi, described as a sexy, edgy working class guy. The character will be introduced in the second episode of Season 2.

Ripper Street (Amazon)

Shameless star David Threlfall has boarded as a series regular…In Ripper Street, he’ll play Abel Croker, a wharfinger, villain and keeper of other men’s secrets.

Other new Ripper Street denizens include Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter‘s Neville Longbottom), David Warner (The Omen) and Killian Scott (’71). Jonas Armstrong (Edge Of Tomorrow) will appear in a yet to be confirmed role. Lucy Cohu and Derek Riddell are reprising their roles from the first season.

The Ranch (Netflix)

Sam Elliott will co-star opposite Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson in the Netflix multi-camera comedy series The Ranch…The Ranch is set on a Colorado spread, with Kutcher’s character returning home after a brief semi-pro football career to run the family business with his brother, played by Masterson.

Elliott will play the boys’ father, a rancher who has a complicated relationship with Kutcher’s character who left the family business to play ball.

Mozart In The Jungle (Amazon)

Gretchen Mol has booked an 8-episode arc on Amazon’s comedy Mozart In The Jungle…written by Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman and Alex Timbers, is all about sex, drugs and classical music and shows that what happens behind the curtains at the symphony can be just as captivating as what happens onstage. Mol…will play veteran labor lawyer Nina Robertson. The New York Symphony’s contract is up for negotiation and they need a real badass to fight for them, so they bring in Robertson, who’s just come off a big win for the NHL Players’ Union.


Bosch (Amazon)

Daya Vaidya (Unforgettable) has joined the cast of Amazon’s drama series Bosch. She will play Jen Kowski, the Chief of Staff to Mayor Ramos.

Coach (NBC)

Morgan Smith has landed a series regular role opposite Craig T. Nelson in Universal TV’s new Coach series for NBC.

Smith…will play Coach Fox’s (Nelson) daughter-in-law, who is married to Tim (Ridings).

Outcast (Cinemax)

David Denman (13 Hours), Melinda McGraw (Mad Men), Grace Zabriskie (The Killing), Catherine Dent (The Shield), Lee Tergesen (The Americans) and Brent Spiner have been cast opposite Patrick Fugit and Philip Glenister in the 10-episode series

Denman will play Mark Holter in a recasting, taking over the role played by Kip Pardue in the pilot. Married to Kyle Barnes’ (Fugit) sister Megan, Mark is a husband and father first – but a by-the-book small town cop a close second. He loves his wife deeply, but his innate sense of justice is challenged Lee Tergesenby her loyalty to Kyle, whom Mark can’t forgive for his past transgressions. McGraw is Patricia MacCready, a single mother and devout member of Rome’s Light of God Baptist Church and a regular at Reverend Anderson’s church teas. Zabriskie plays Mildred, one of the old guard of parishioners at Anderson’s church. Full of spit and vinegar, Mildred lives alone and says what’s on her mind. Dent is Janet Anderson, the ex-wife of Reverend Anderson. Their marriage was shattered by Anderson’s obsession with battling the forces of darkness, but she still can’t help but feel affection and sympathy for the man she once loved, the father of the her child. Tergesen plays Blake Morrow, a former police officer on death row for murdering his partner’s wife.

Gods and Secrets (HBO)

RJ Mitte has joined the ensemble cast of “Adi Shankar’s Gods and Secrets”

The 100 (The CW)

Shawn Mendes is heading to The 100 in season three…[He] is set to appear in the season premiere. He’s playing a scrappy young Ark survivor who gets into a tricky situation and uses his particular talents to get out of it

Michael Beach…will be joining the cast as an Arker named Pike in a recurring guest role. According to his character description, he will be a “tough and charismatic member of the Ark with a staunch moral code”

I’m Dying Up Here (Showtime)

I’m Dying Up Here, written and executive produced by former stand-up comedian-turned-TV writer Dave Flebotte (Will & Grace) and actor-comedian Jim Carrey…I’m Dying Up Here takes place at the famous Hollywood comedy clubs of the 1970s and delves into the inspired and damaged psyches that inhabit the complex business of making an audience laugh. The pilot [is] directed by Jonathan Levine
