Gotham, Shameless, The Ambassador’s Wife, and other TV productions have made recent TV show casting, TV movie casting, and TV directing news. These shows and movies air on Fox and Showtime.

The Ambassador’s Wife

Anne Hathaway will star in a limited series adaptation of “The Ambassador’s Wife”

Inspired by her personal experiences as the wife of the British Ambassador to Yemen, Steil’s novel is a harrowing tale about the kidnapping of an American woman in the Middle East and the heartbreaking choices she and her husband each must make in the hope of being reunited.

Supergirl (CBS)

Levi Miller has joined the cast of CBS’ “Supergirl”

The young actor will play Carter Grant, the son of Calista Flockhart’s character Cat Grant.

Twelve-year-old Carter is described as sensitive and shy, and harboring a crush on Supergirl, which he confesses to his babysitter Kara. Miller is set to make his debut in Episode 4.

Orange Is The New Black (Netflix)

Shannon Esper has booked a recurring role on the upcoming fourth season of Netflix/Lionsgate TV prison drama, Orange Is The New Black. She will play Alana Dwight, a new inmate whose meek ways make her impossible to hate.

The Magicians (Syfy)

Tembi Locke has joined the cast of Syfy’s drama series The Magicians…as a recurring. She’s returning to the role of Dr. London that she played in the pilot.

Ty Hunter

Thomas Caplan’s Ty Hunter series of novels about a military badass-turned-movie star-turned spy may be going to the small screen…with Trevor Donovan (History Channel’s Texas Rising) attached to the series in the lead role.

The books follow movie star Ty Hunter, an A-list idol whose past as a covert operative leads to his recruitment by the President of the United States to stop the trafficking of illicit nuclear weapons, reigniting a clandestine career where Hunter’s fame becomes his cover…The proposed series would be based on The Man Who Wasn’t, the upcoming second book.

Running Wild

Sharon Stone is set to star in Running Wild…Alex Ranarivelo is directing the film, from a script by Christina Moore and Brian Rudnick…The pic centers on Stella Davis, a widow who saves her ranch by working with convicts to rehabilitate a herd of wild horses that wandered on to her property. She must fight prejudice, greed, bureaucracy and vanity –- including her own –- to finally understand that there is no better remedy to misfortune than helping another living creature. Stone will play the baddie role of Meredith.

Bastards

Ving Rhames…is joining Ed Helms, Owen Wilson, JK Simmons and Terry Bradshaw in the comedy Bastards. The film, which marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Lawrence Sher, is about two brothers whose eccentric mother has fabricated the story that their father had died when they were young. When they find out the story is false, they make it their mission to find their real father.

Rhames will play Rod Hamilton, the ex-teammate of football great Bradshaw (who plays himself in the picture). Of course, the mother points the finger to Bradshaw as the possible father of one of of of the boys (Helms); Rhames’ character helps Bradshaw figure out whether or not he’s the kid’s father.

The Durrells (ITV)

Keeley Hawes has now been set to star as Louisa Durrell with legendary French actress Leslie Caron as the shrewd and exotic Countess Mavrodaki. Written by Simon Nye…The Durrells is based on conservationist Gerald Durrell’s trilogy of Corfu memoirs including My Family And Other Animals.

Other cast now lined up includes Josh O’Connor (Peaky Blinders), newcomer Callum Woodhouse, Daisy Waterstone (Silent Witness, Testament Of Youth) and Milo Parker (Mr Holmes).

The story focuses on Louisa Durrell whose life is in meltdown and whose children (some of whom are entering adulthood) are going off the rails. It’s the 1930s, and a woman’s options are limited. So, Louisa decides to take the family to the untamed paradise of Corfu.

Greek cast will include Alexis Georgoulis (My Life In Ruins) as the handsome Spiro Hakaiopulos; Yorgos Karamihos (Ben-Hur) as helpful local Theodore; and Christopher Sciueref (300: Rise Of An Empire, Skyfall) as convict Kosti.

Coach (NBC)

Malcolm Barrett has landed a series regular role opposite Craig T. Nelson in Universal TV’s new Coach series for NBC. Barrett will play Waddell, president of the university.

Luna: New Moon (CBS)

CBS Television Studios have secured the rights to Luna: New Moon, the first book in an upcoming science fiction series by Ian McDonald. Brennan is set to write the adaptation.

Luna is set in the year 2110 on the moon, which over the previous 60 years has been colonized and industrialized. It is controlled by five powerful, highly competitive dynastic corporate families (known as the Five Dragons) who run their various business enterprises with an iron fist in a near-feudal society. The moon, under the control of the Five Dragons, is a lucrative source of valuable resources such as Helium-3, carbon, water ice and rare metals, which are exported back to Earth for huge profits.

Forty years ago, Adriana wrested control of the moon’s lucrative Helium-3 industry from the powerful Mackenzie Metal corporation. Now, in the twilight of her life, Adriana finds her corporation, Corta Helio, surrounded by the many enemies she made during her meteoric rise. If the Corta family is to survive, Adriana’s five children must defend their mother’s empire from her many enemies… and each other.

The Group (TBS)

Michael Cassidy has been cast in a lead role opposite Wyatt Cenac in TBS comedy pilot The Group. He will play Jonathan Walsh, the charismatic and wildly successful young CEO of Walsh Media, a massive conglomerate. While Jonathan strives to appear like a down-to-earth guy, he is infatuated with status and the trappings of success. He is Wyatt’s boss and also considers himself to be Wyatt’s close friend.

Shameless (Showtime)

Will Sasso (The Three Stooges) has booked a recurring role on Showtime dramedy Shameless. He will play Yanis, a big and imposing blue-collar Chicago neighbor of Kev (Steve Howey) and V (Shanola Hampton), who’s in a conflict with the new members of the neighborhood who are part of the gentrification. He deliberately spends most of the day revving his motorcycle and making sexual threats.

The Player (NBC)

Nick Wechsler has joined the cast of NBC’s Las Vegas-set thriller The Player…Wechsler will play Nick, the boyfriend of Cassandra (Charity Wakefield), a good guy with morals caught in the web of century-old conspiracy.

Gotham (Fox)

The DC Comics supervillain known as Firefly will touch down in Season 2 of Fox’s Batman drama — but, in a canon-tweaking twist, the traditionally testosterone-tinged Big Bad will be female. Michelle Veintimilla (Lifetime’s Those Who Kill) will play the infamous firestarter — and her human alter ego Bridgit Pike — in two late fall episodes.

Enslaved by her brothers, a notorious gang of arsonists, Bridgit Pike is forced into the family business. When she catches the eye of Selina Kyle, the young Cat Woman and the soon-to-be-Firefly team up to put Bridgit’s firestarting skills to good use. But after a deadly encounter with the Pike Brothers, the meek Cinderella is transformed into a vengeful supervillain, hell bent on destroying those who have wronged her.

12 Monkeys (Syfy)

Syfy’s “12 Monkeys” has added…David Marciano and…David Dastmalchian for guest roles in season two

The pair will debut in episode six of the sci-fi thriller’s second season, in scenes set in 1975. Marciano will play NYPD detective John Damato, who is pulled into the case of a serial killer who has a dangerous affiliation with the Army of the 12 Monkeys, an organization behind the death of 7 billion people in the present day. Damato teams up with heroes Cole (Aaron Stanford) and Ramse (Kirk Acevedo) as they travel back in time to track the killer and find out what he knows.

Dastmalchian will appear as Kyle Slade, a Vietnam vet whose mind is connected to time in a unique way. Slade is pursued not only by the 12 Monkeys, but by Cole and Ramse, since he may be the key to putting an end to a conspiracy that spans centuries.
