Two of the best episodes of Dollhouse: Season 2, Ep. 5: The Public Eye and Ep. 6: The Left Hand, aired back-to-back. This would be a great accomplishment expect that the show has been canceled and Fox aired them consecutively on the same night to fulfill their contract with Joss Whedon.
Whedon has created one of the best characters on the show with Bennet Halverson (Summer Glau) in The Public Eye. Almost everything about her was interesting: the dead left arm like Howard Stern Whack Packer Jeff the Drunk, the special keyboard she uses, her glasses, the migraines she gets, and her general demeanor. Her small segment was the highlight of the episode and the fact that it ended with the electro torture of Echo/Caroline (Eliza Dushku) at Halverson’s hand made it even better.
The Left Hand was entertaining for two reason: Topher Brink (Fran Kranz) and Victor (Enver Gjokaj). Gjokaj is a great actor. He channeled all of Topher’s mannerisms and speech patterns perfectly. I wish he had not been wiped of Topher at the end of the episode. Topher and Bennet’s chemistry was great but its unfortunate that it went no where. I also did not like the fact that Bennet described the power that Caroline has over people instead of her hatred for her. I would have loved to see that bubble to the surface as she talked about her to Brink.
