How To Get Away With Murder: Season 3, Episode 15: Wes is a fitting end to an uneven season.
The second part of the third season’s two-part finale, last night’s episode more than ably followed up on the blinding revelations of He Made A Terrible Mistake. Not only did we learn that Wes (Alfred Enoch) was the son of Chris Mahoney (Wilson Bethel), but we also learned that District Attorney Todd Denver (Benito Martinez) is motivated to convict Annalise by a lot more than a mere desire to see justice served. This much became apparent when Connor (Jack Falahee) inadvertently discovered that the unknown number given to the Keating Five belonged to a phone in Denver’s office, prompting the DA to illegally hold the hapless student until he agreed to a plea deal that would incriminate Annalise (Viola Davis). Although this sort of thing seems like small potatoes compared to some of the show’s past bombshells, it is given the proper build-up for it to be effective, which is many orders of magnitude more important than being “big”.
But the episode is not without its “big” bombshell of course. Indeed, we learn that Wes left a voicemail on Annalise’s phone confessing to killing Sam and Rebecca, explaining why she had her device wiped. In turn, it is revealed that the person who killed Wes is none other than a family friend of Laurel’s (Karla Souza), apparently acting on her father’s orders. It’s quite the web they’ve weaved, but I hope that How to Get Away With Murder keeps on spinning.
