TV Review: True Blood: Season 3, Ep.1: Bad Blood

True Blood, Season 3, Episode 1, entitled Bad Blood, has premiered. The season premiere started off right where last season ended. What was most entertaining – even in its brevity – were “the men” in the car with Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) after they kidnapped him from Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin). The male breast line and the blood snow balling were unexpected and funny to watch and hear. I am guessing the men were werewolves but how did Bill get the drop on them? He was chained with silver around the throat. What happened to the two in the back seat? It seems as though they had been knocked out somehow but by what? Bill’s blood?

The Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård) and Yvetta (Natasha Alam) scene was, ahem, interesting and I hope we see more of her yet I do not know how much more we could possibly see. Tara Thorton (Rutina Wesley)’s mother is worthless. She thinks only of herself and her relationship with Tara. Jason Stackhouse is still a dimwit but now he is plagued with guilt. I could not believe he had a problem downstairs, even with two semi-nude girls – Jen (Thea Brooks) and Missy (C.C. Sheffield) – in his bed ready and willing for a three-way. Classic, especially when Jason makes the gunshot comment.

Thank god the producers used real wolves (for the most part) in the episode and not CGI ones like in The Twilight Saga. Queen Sophia-Anne Leclerq (Evan Rachel Wood) being broke is hilarious. After 1800 years on the planet, she’s made no investments, buried no money anywhere, and started no businesses. A brilliant move on her part.

I am looking forward to seeing what the werewolves want with Bill and seeing what Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) does now that he has found his biological family.
