UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS (2017): Sequel’s Release Date Moved

Kate Beckinsale Underworld

Underworld: Blood Wars gets a new, later release date. The horror action franchise sequel starring series lead Kate Beckinsale has seen it’s release delayed by a year to January 3rd, 2017.

First released in 2003, the original Underworld proved successful enough to inspire a number of sequels, with the last, Underworld: Awakening, coming out in 2012. Centered on Selene, the werewolf-killing vampire portrayed by Beckinsale, the movies tell the story of the long, brutal war between Vampires and Lycans (the series’ term for werewolves), in which Selene plays a major part. Joining her in Blood Wars is David, who previously appeared in Awakening where he was played by Divergent‘s Theo James, as well as Charles Dance who will once again play the Vampire elder Thomas:

Anna Foerster is the directing Underworld Blood Wars. She previously directed episodes of the television series Criminal Minds and Outlander and is widely known for her work as cinematographer on epic blockbusters such as Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow and White House Down.

The screenplay for Underworld Blood Wars was penned by Cory Goodman (The Last Witch Hunter, Priest) and based on characters originally created by Kevin Grevioux, Len Wiseman and Danny McBride. Lakeshore Entertainment’s Tom Rosenberg (The Lincoln Lawyer, Million Dollar Baby), Gary Lucchesi (Million Dollar BabyUnderworld), and Richard S. Wright (The Lincoln Lawyer, Underworld) are producing as are David Kern (Underworld: Awakening), along with Len Wiseman (Underworld, Total Recall).
