Doug Liman‘s The Wall (2017) movie trailer stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, John Cena, and Laith Nakli. The Wall‘s plot synopsis: “‘The Wall’ follows two soldiers pinned down by an Iraqi sniper, with nothing but a crumbling wall between them. Their fight becomes as much a battle of will and wits as it is of lethally accurate marksmanship.”
Situational thrillers like this are hard to pull off. Phone Booth got it right. The Wall seems as though it has as well. John Cena has come a long way since his first forays into motion pictures. I barely recognized him. The neophyte has vanished.
Also off-screen is the enemy sniper in the film à la Phone Booth and Joy Ride. This creates a sense of dread for the people on-screen. They can’t hit what they can’t see.
