Warner Bros. CEO Talks Differences Between DC and Marvel Films. There has been a huge surge of films coming from both DC and Marvel, so there will certainly be some differences between their films. Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara also seems to think so.
Variety caught up with Tsujihara at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference on his views with this decades-long war between the two franchises. “The worlds of DC are very different,” Tsujihara said. “They’re steeped in realism, and they’re a little bit edgier than Marvel’s movies.”
With these differences, Tsujihara doesn’t think that this will cause superhero fatigue with audiences. “The key thing,” he says, “Is that the movies and the television shows and the games, everything looks very different… you have to be able to take advantage of the diversity of these characters.”
Unlike Marvel, Warner Bros. has been creating separate worlds between their live-action movies and TV shows. Gotham, for example, can exist separately from the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The same goes for Grant Gustin’s The Flash and Ezra Miller’s big screen version.
“The big franchises are becoming more and more valuable,” Tsujihara continues. “You don’t have to explain to the consumer what a Batman v Superman is.”
