Water Lilies (Naissance Des Pieuvres) Trailer

The French make some daring films. If you’ve seen Swimming Pool, you know what I mean. Water Lilies (Naissance Des Pieuvres) is the tale of a “[s]ummer in a new suburb outside Paris. Nothing to do but look at the ceiling. Marie, Anne and Floriane are 15. Their paths cross in the corridors at the local swimming pool, where love and desire make a sudden, dramatic appearance.” I’m not much of a fan of synchronized swimming, even though it is an Olympic sport. Since it seems spread throughout this film however, I will see it whether I like it or not. Who knows, I might find it entertaining. Water Lilies probably would not be getting good ratings if it were not. The trailer for Water Lilies, from first time French director/screenwriter Céline Sciamma, sure seems intriguing. Water Lilies arrives in the US in limited release (NYC) on April 4, 2008.
