WONDER WOMAN (2017): Warner Bros. Moves Release Date Up

Gal Gadot Wonder Woman

Warner Bros. pushes Wonder Woman release date forward. The DC superhero film will hit theaters almost a month earlier than originally planned following changes to the studio’s production schedule.

Initially set for release on June 23rd, 2017, the film is now expected to premiere on June 3rd that same year. Some expect the decision to move the date is tied to the performance of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which, despite pulling in hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office, didn’t meet Warner Bros.’ expectations.

In addition to moving Wonder Woman up, the company has unveiled two untitled DC universe films which are scheduled to be released on October 5th, 2018 and November 1st, 2019 respectively. Warner Bros. is also ready to debut an unknown project on October 7th of next year:

Starring Gal Gadot as the title hero, Wonder Woman also stars Chris Pine (Star Trek), Robin Wright (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Netflix’s “House of Cards”), Danny Huston (Clash of the TitansX-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (the “Harry Potter” films, The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Exodus: Gods and KingsSnowpiercer), Saïd Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In)  Connie Nielsen (GladiatorNymphomaniac: Vol. I) and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead).  Directed by Patty Jenkins, the film is being produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder, with Richard Suckle, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns and Rebecca Roven serving as executive producers.
