Simon Kinberg Thinks of X-Men: Apocalypse as an End to a Trilogy. It’s uncertain what the future of the X-Men franchise would look like after X-Men: Apocalypse, because according to Simon Kinberg, the next film in the franchise may end the prequel trilogy.
As we are all desperately restless for the first trailer of X-Men: Apocalypse to come out soon, Collider spoke with writer/producer Simon Kinberg regarding where the film belongs in the franchise. “It delivers on the dramatic story and emotion of the last two movies,” he explained. “It feels like the culmination of the four main characters really — McAvoy, Fassbender, Nic Hoult, and Jen. And it’s a bigger movie in both physical scale and I would say emotional stakes too because it is the culmination of this mini trilogy of stories.”
It’s still a mystery as to where the X-Men franchise may be heading next after X-Men: Apocalypse because we there hasn’t been any announcements about a follow-up yet. However, it seems to us that the focus may shift over to the younger team of mutants which includes Cylcops, Jean Grey, Storm, Jubilee, and Nightcrawler to name a few.
