Stephen Moyer Set To Headline Fox’s Upcoming X-Men Series

True Blood star Stephen Moyer is slated to play a lead role in Fox‘s planned TV spin-off of its X-Men franchise.

For his leading role on the HBO horror drama, Moyer was nominated for a series of Scream Awards over the course of the show’s run, winning one as well as a Saturn Award. In addition to True Blood, the actor had a role in the 2015 Will Smith drama Concussion and appeared as Captain Von Trapp in NBC‘s live TV production of The Sound of Music. He is also expected to appear in Fox’s upcoming limited drama series Shots Fired.

It is reported that Moyer has been cast as Reed, an attorney who tries to juggle his work commitment with those to his family. This suggests that he is to be one of the parents who discover that their children have mutant abilities.

“Developing a Marvel property has been a top priority for the network–and we are so pleased with how Matt Nix has led us into this thrilling universe,” Fox Entertainment president David Madden said back in July when the show was announced. “There’s comic book adventure, emotional and complicated relationships, and a rich, existing mythology from which to draw. With the brilliant production crew behind this project, it has all the makings of a big, fun and exciting new series.”
