Chloë Sevigny Joins Luca Guadagnino’s Forthcoming Thriller
Chloë Sevigny, an Oscar-nominated actress with an outstanding resume, has come aboard the impressive cast of Luca Guadagnino‘s After the Hunt.
Luca Guadagnino is continuing to add to his talented cast for his latest dramatic thriller, After the Hunt. Before today’s news of Chloë Sevigny’s inclusion in the cast, Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, Ayo Edebiri and Michael Stuhlbarg were already signed up to star in the film. Now, Sevigny joins them and helps create even more prestige for an already distinguished project.
When Sevigny came on to the scene in 1995, she did so in an unforgettable way. The film was Larry Clark’s NC-17 piece of cinematic brilliance, Kids. Despite a currently middling 47% Rotten Tomatoes rating, Kids was pure intensity and came out in a summer where it stood out significantly as a movie for the time period in which it was released. Sevigny’s work was the reason why the picture worked so well. Though the movie was downright wild and full of tension, Sevigny’s performance in the movie packed the wallop that carried the movie home as an unforgettable experience. Sevigny played a young woman who discovers some horrifying news and spends the movie trying to tell someone about what’s going on before more bad things happen.
Just a few years later with the breathtaking, Boys Don’t Cry, Sevigny proved her work in Kids was no fluke. Starring opposite Oscar-winner for the film, Hilary Swank, Sevigny once again delivered a performance for the record books which resulted in a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination. Since that role, Sevigny has built up quite the resume with roles in Lars von Trier films, “American Horror Story,” “Poker Face,” and she even played in David Fincher’s Zodiac.
Luca Guadagnino’s latest is going to be something of an Oscar bait project. Amazon MGM and Imagine are the studios behind the picture, After the Hunt. Guadagnino is coming off the success of this year’s Challengers which could yield some well-deserved nods for its co-star, Josh O’Connor, and its terrific soundtrack at next year’s Academy Awards. After the Hunt is about a college professor who is about to confront a secret which has existed in her past. With Guadagnino behind the camera, expect Sevigny to shine under Gudagnino’s direction.
There is nowhere near enough space to list all of Sevigny’s major television and film roles here. However, it all goes back to the masterpieces, Kids and Boys Don’t Cry, if you want to see why the actress propelled herself to stardom. Don’t let the 47% Rotten Tomatoes score fool you. Sevigny’s role made Kids a must-see film and her latest, After the Hunt, will be a major event picture upon its release. Sevigny previously worked with Guadagnino in 2022’s Bones and All.
