Paramount Set to Adapt Avengelyne as a Live-Action Movie

With the success of Deadpool, Hollywood seems to want more of Rob Liefeld’s work to be up on the big screen. Which is why Paramount Pictures has already picked up Liefeld’s comic book series Avengelyne with the intent to adapt it into a live-action feature film.

According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures is working with screenwriter Akiva Goldsman to produce and possibly direct the big screen adaptation of Avengelyne. For those who aren’t familiar with the story, Avengelyne first released in 1995 and told the tale of a fallen angel who ends up fighting off demons and monsters. The project was in development back in 2013 with Liefeld involved and Gina Carano attached to star in the film. The idea was to develop the property into a female-centric action franchise along the lines of the Underworld series.

Currently, the film is being marketed as something in the veins of John Wick with a female in the lead. With Paramount involved, we don’t know who will now star as the titular heroine since Carano was previously attached.
