CLICQUOT: Haley Bennett Cast in Title Role of Upcoming Novel-Based Film

Haley Bennett

Haley Bennett Cast as Title Character in Clicquot

One of the most versatile actresses working today, Haley Bennett, has just been announced to have a leading role in the forthcoming film, Clicquot.

Haley Bennett is one of the most consistently fascinating actresses in Hollywood. Just last year, she appeared in one of the most criminally under-seen masterpieces of the past few years, Cyrano. Currently, she is on screen in the heart-wrenching, moving drama, Till. Bennett will now add another incredible role to her resume with her part in the upcoming movie, Clicquot.

Thomas Napper will be helming the upcoming movie set to star Bennett in its principal role. This film will showcase the story of a French champagne house and will be centered around a famous vineyard. This picture is going to be based on the book, The Widow Clicquot: The Story of a Champagne Empire and the Woman Who Ruled It by Tilar J. Mazzeo. Tom Sturridge and Sam Riley will be appearing opposite the always terrific Bennett as well. It’s a movie that’s sure to create interest in it given its solid casting choices.

Bennett won the Best Actress award at Tribeca for her breathtaking role as a housewife who swallows inedible objects in the amazing recent dramatic horror movie, Swallow. That picture would have been a stronger contender to get more acclaim and viewership had the pandemic not happened just as that picture was about to be released. Bennett created one of the most plausible and emotional performances I’ve ever seen in a horror film and the actress managed to gain much sympathy for a woman who suffered from a troubled past through her intense characterization.

In Cyrano, Bennett further proved her movie star qualities by playing Roxanne, the object of Cyrano de Bergerac’s affections. This part solidified Bennett’s status as one of the most intriguing female stars to grace the silver screen in the past few years. In Till, Bennett can currently be seen giving another strong performance playing Carolyn Bryant. That recent film scored an “A+” CinemaScore grade and is sure to get some very well-deserved nominations come Oscar time.

While some people have noted the physical resemblances between Bennett and acclaimed actress Jennifer Lawrence, once viewers watch Bennett perform, that’s where the similarities will stop because both actresses have totally unique acting styles which must be seen to be appreciated.

Set in 19th Century France, Clicquot is destined to be another fine period piece for Bennett to add to her list of roles that have been both challenging and risky to play. If her previous work is any indication, Bennett will emerge victorious for this upcoming role and she will hopefully, one day soon, be up for some more major awards given the potency of her work.
