The Dark Tower Has Been Postponed to Summer 2017

People anxiously awaiting the release of The Dark Tower may have to wait a little longer for the big screen adaptation. Originally slated to release in February 17, 2017, Sony Pictures will now have the film arrive in theaters in summer 2017.

Entertainment Weekly broke the news that the film adaptation of Stephen King’s Dark Tower novels was postponed to a later date next year. According to them, principle photography has already finished, but the launch has been delayed due to more work being done on the special effects. Another reason for the delay is to give the studio time to come up with a way to promote the film. “It’s a very fiscally responsible budget, and trying to stay in budget to make money and stay profitable means the VFX won’t be finished in time [for February],” EW’s anonymous source explained. “Now that there’s more time, they’re not paying rush charges to get the effects where they need to be.”

Starring Idris Elba,Tom Taylor, Kathryn Winnick, and Matthew McConaughey, the film will be coming out next summer.
