Film Casting: CRUCIFIXION, JACK REACHER 2, Lara Pulver in UNDERWORLD 5

Underworld 5

Lara Pulver has joined the cast of the upcoming, still-untitled fifth installment in the Underworld series…It will be directed by Anna Foerster from a script written by Cory Goodman.

The Crow

“The Crow” director Corin Hardy is in danger of flying the coop as a result of the Relativity Media bankruptcy, according to producer Edward R. Pressman

…Pressman claims that he’s “in danger of losing the services of the director of the picture … who is widely regarded as a key creative element. Thus, the production of the picture is imploding even as the time to make the picture is running out under the Crow contract.”

Loving

Michael Shannon and Nick Kroll have joined the cast of Jeff Nichols‘ interracial marriage drama “Loving” along with Jon Bass (“Big Time in Hollywood, FL”), Marton Csokas (“The Equalizer”) and Bill Camp (“Black Mass”).

Kroll will play Bernie Cohen, Bass will play Phil Hirschkop, Csokas will play Sheriff Brooks and Camp will play as Frank Beazley. Shannon will play Grey Villet, the LIFE Magazine photographer who shot the iconic images of the Lovings in 1965.

Outlaws Inc.

Scott Waugh is set to helm Outlaws Inc., a fact-based drama about military men who turn to mercenary work. The script is by Banshee co-creator David Schickler

Outlaws Inc. is based on a true story penned by journalist Matt Potter. He documents his exploits following a gang of military men, who find themselves without work or prospects in the 1990s, and buy a decommissioned plane to start an international cargo delivery business.

East Texas Hot Links

Samuel L. Jackson is helping to bring Eugene Lee’s Pulitzer-nominated play East Texas Hot Links to the big screen with Lee as director.

Eugene LeeEast Texas Hot Links is the story of how a single night at a “colored only” bar in Jim Crow era East Texas tests the strength and loyalty of a small African-American community and changes their lives. Lee’s play, which initially bowed in 1991, was a one-act, 90-minute performance set in the pre-civil rights era in Texas at a little eatery called Top o’ the Hill Cafe which was designated as “for coloreds only.” The world outside the cafe in 1955 America was considered dangerous and redneck Klan.

Casting is currently underway with John Beasley (The Soul Man) in the role of Boochie Reed.


The Forest of Hands and Teeth

Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) has just been attached to play the lead. [Kate Maberly] will adapt, direct

The Forest of Hands and Teeth is adapted from the New York Times best-selling novel about a futuristic world where most of the human race has been taken by a bloodthirsty virus that leaves them roaming the planet as unconsecrated cannibals. Mary (to be played by Williams) seeks a bigger world beyond the fenced off village of survivors, and the survival of the human race seems dependent upon her success in leading a ragtag group through the dark depths of The Forest of Hands and Teeth.

The Tunnels

Tobias Lindholm…will team with director Paul Greengrass (Captain Phillips, The Bourne Ultimatum) on The Tunnels….[a film] about a group of West Germans attempting to sneak into East Berlin with the aid of American news networks.

Lindholm will write the screenplay for The Tunnels

The Crucifixion

Sophie Cookson (Kingsman: The Secret Service) just stepped into the lead role in the supernatural thriller The Crucifixion

The script will be written by [Chad Hayes] and Carey Hayes.

The Crucifixion…[is] the story about a priest who is jailed for the murder of a nun on whom he was performing an exorcism. An investigative journalist (Cookson) delves into the story to determine whether he killed a mentally ill person or if he lost the battle with a demonic presence.

The Commuter

Liam Neeson [will]…star in The Commuter, a suspense-thriller written by Byron Willinger and Phil de Blasi.

In The Commuter…Neeson will play a businessman on his daily commute home who unwittingly gets caught up in a criminal conspiracy. It threatens not only his life but the lives of those around him.

Jack Reacher 2

Patrick Heusinger is now in talks to join Tom Cruise in Paramount and Skydance’s sequel to “Jack Reacher” as the villain.

[Zwick Herskovitz] and and Marshall Herskovitz wrote the most recent draft of the script after Richard Wenk penned the original draft.

Details surrounding Hodge’s role are under wraps at this time, other than the character being described as “the hunter.”

Beautiful Boy

Felix van Groeningen [is directing] an adaptation of the memoir “Beautiful Boy.”

the story follows meth addiction and recovery through the eyes of a father who watches his son as he struggles with the disease.

Luke Davies…recently handed in his draft of the script.
