Lady Bird

Greta Gerwig will make her solo writing and directorial debut on Lady Bird, a script she wrote…Gerwig will not appear on camera in the story of a young woman’s last year spent in Sacramento.

Gambit

the studio is working on locking his female lead. This is a hotly contested job, the role of Belladonna Boudreaux aka Bella, and they’ve got a trio of the best and brightest testing next week…Rebecca Ferguson…will be testing; so will Lea Seydoux…; and finally Abbey Lee

Megan Leavey bio-pic

Kate Mara (Fantastic Four, House of Cards) has signed on to star as Iraq war hero Megan Leavey in an upcoming biopic directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite. Leavey, member of a marine K9 bomb sniffing unit, was teamed with an aggressive combat dog named Rex. The two formed a powerful bond and ultimately served two tours in Iraq together, completing more than 100 missions that saved many lives. In 2006, the pair were wounded in an explosion and upon recovery, Leavey received a purple heart and was discharged from the Marines. Rex however was kept on active duty, and Leavey spent the next 5 years waiting to adopt him. When Rex was scheduled instead to be euthanized, Leavey fought hard to save him; ultimately successful, she was able to care for Rex until his death at age 11 in 2012.

Cowperthwaite…[will] direct from a script written by Pamela Gray (Conviction) with rewrites by Annie Mumolo (Joy), Tim Lovestedt, and Jordan Roberts (Big Hero 6).

Trafficked

Patrick Duffy and Anne Archer have joined the cast of Will Wallace’s directorial debut “Trafficked,”

The stars join previously announced cast members Kelly Washington (“Jurassic World”), Jessica Obilom (“We Are Family”), Alpa Banker (“Awkward”), Courtney Gains (“Faster”), Efren Ramirez (“Crank”), Jason London (“Dazed and Confused”) and Ashley Judd (“Divergent”) round out the cast.


Neighbors 2

Jonah Hill’s younger sister Beanie Feldstein has joined the cast of “Neighbors 2” along with “Dope” actress Kiersey Clemons

Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Zac Efron, Ike Barinholtz and Carla Gallo are all returning for the sequel, and this time, they’ll be joined by Chloe Moretz.

Universal and Good Universe reunited the original team of director Nicholas Stoller and writers Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien. That trio is credited with writing the script, along with Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

Ghostbusters

Actor Bill Murray will appear in Sony’s new “Ghostbusters”

The nature of Murray’s role in the new movie is not yet known.

Mortal Kombat

Furious 7 director James Wan is stepping in to produce the MORTAL KOMBAT reboot currently underway at New Line and Broken Road.

The in-demand director of The Conjuring and Insidious: Chapter 2 has been brought over to uppercut some new life into the previously stunted picture.

The script, being penned by Mortal Kombat: Legacy writer Oren Uziel and The Expendables writer Dave Callaham, centers around a seemingly harmless guy who realizes his potential when he finds himself caught in the middle of a cross-dimensional battle between the warriors of Earth and the monsters of Outworld. Now, in order to stop the world from total destruction, he must win the martial arts tournament known as ‘Mortal Kombat’.

Baywatch

Zac Efron is suiting up in red bathing trunks and hitting the beach.

Efron is in negotiations to star opposite Dwayne Johnson in Paramount’s Baywatch, the big-screen take on the 1990s television series about California lifeguards.

After years of development, the project seems to finally be ramping up and in recent weeks adding Seth Gordon as director.

The story centers on a by-the-book and very serious lifeguard (Johnson) who is forced to team up with a young rule-flouting hothead (Efron) in order to save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon. Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the most recent draft.
