Why Him?

Bryan Cranston will star alongside James Franco in the 20th Century Fox and 21 Laps comedy “Why Him?”

The film follows a Midwestern dad (Cranston) who travels to visit his daughter at college, only to find himself in conflict with her tech billionaire boyfriend (Franco).

John Hamburg is directing in addition to co-writing the script with Ian Helfer.

The Girl on the Train

Haley Bennett is in negotiations to play Megan alongside Emily Blunt and Rebecca Ferguson in DreamWorks’ adaptation of “The Girl on the Train”

War of the Planet of the Apes

Gabriel Chavarria is in talks to play one of two new human leads in “War of the Planet of the Apes”

Matt Reeves returns to direct

Mark Bomback wrote the script, though it’s unclear which characters will return aside from Andy Serkis’ motion-captured Caesar.

Gambit

Lea Seydoux is in talks to play the female lead opposite Channing Tatum in 20th Century Fox’s comic book movie “Gambit”

The Zookeeper’s Wife

The Zookeeper’s Wife…will star Jessica Chastain, Daniel Brühl and Johan Heldenbergh

Niki Caro (“McFarland, USA”) will direct from a script by Angela Workman

The film depicts the true story of Antonina Zabinska and her husband Dr. Jan Zabinski, the director of the Warsaw Zoo, who together courageously and creatively used the zoo to help approximately 300 Jewish people escape from the Warsaw Ghetto after the Germans invaded Poland in September of 1939.

War Machine

Anthony Hayes is the latest to join Brad Pitt in Netflix’s “War Machine.”


The Late Bloomer

Johnny Simmons, Brittany Snow, Jane Lynch and J.K. Simmons are starring in the comedy “The Late Bloomer,” with Kevin Pollak making his directorial debut.

Johnny Simmons (“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”) portrays the lead character, who works as a sex therapist in an office headed by Lynch’s character. His suffocating parents are portrayed by J.K. Simmons (no relation) and Bello. Snow portrays the girl next door.

The film begins during a baby shower, when the guests find themselves witnessing a meteor shower. These turn men into aliens and the women must fight to save themselves and the entire world.

Jennifer Lawrence/ Amy Schumer Comedy

Jennifer Lawrence is writing a comedic screenplay with Amy Schumer in which both female stars plan to star.

“We play sisters,” Lawrence told the New York Times on Wednesday.

Kong: Skull Island

Jason Mitchell may be booking a trip to “Kong: Skull Island.”

The actor is in negotiations to join an ensemble that includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and his “Compton” costar Corey Hawkins for the action seque

Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct from a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein.

Hacksaw Ridge

Luke Bracey has been set to star opposite Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn and Sam Worthington in the Mel Gibson-directed Hacksaw Ridge. Pic tells the story of Desmond Doss, the first Conscientious Objector in American history to be awarded the Medal Of Honor for bravery in World War II.

Bracey plays Smitty, the hard-nosed alpha dog of Doss’ platoon. While Smitty and Doss at first seem to be complete opposites, the realities of war prove they share more than they initially thought. Garfield plays Doss and the story unfolds during WWII and follows the soldiers of the 307th Infantry, 77th Army Division, 1st Battalion, Company B as they train for battle. The story begins at a base camp in South Carolina and follows the recruits as they learn basic wartime survival skills before being deployed to Japan where they come face to face with the action at the Battle of Okinawa.

Robert Schenkkan and Randall Wallace wrote the script.

Mother’s Day

Shay Mitchell, Britt Robertson…and Timothy Olyphant…have joined the cast of Garry Marshall‘s romantic comedy “Mother’s Day” along with…star[s] Aasif Mandvi, Jack Whitehall and Loni Love.

Olyphant plays Henry, the ex-husband of Aniston’s character, Sandy. Mitchell will play Tina, Henry’s new bouncy, beautiful wife, who wants nothing more than to be the perfect stepmom to Henry and Sandy’s children.

Robertson plays Kristin, a slightly neurotic new mother to a one-year-old girl. Whitehall will play Zack, an aspiring standup comedian and boyfriend of Kristin.

Mandvi is Russell, a successful doctor and husband of Hudson’s character Jesse. Love plays Kimberly, a friend of Bradley’s (Sudeikis) and a mom herself.

“Mother’s Day” was written by Anya Kochoff-Romano and Lily Hollander, Matt Walker and Tom Hines.
