James Mangold and Hugh Jackman Discuss Humanizing Logan
The latest trailer for Logan has assured fans that Wolverine’s final chapter will be a dark and intimate one. In a new interview with director James Mangold and actor Hugh Jackman, they both talked about hoe different this story will be out of the other films featuring the clawed mutant.
We are about to see a very different take on everyone’s favorite X-Men in his latest film Logan. With the film taking it’s inspiration from the Old Man Logan comic book storyline, we can expect to see a very grounded and personal story of what may become Wolverine’s final days. In an interview with Empire, Mangold said that he intends to make a very human film in contrast to the other action-packed installments from the X-Men franchise. “The goal was to make something human,” he said. “We made an effort to scale back on the gloss and greenscreen.”
Hugh Jackman also thought the same way on the film’s tone. The actor explained that it was important to explore Logan’s legacy and the impact he’s made during his life. “It’s essential you see this as the story of a man who is struggling with mortality and legacy,” the actor told them, “and whether the world has been better off with him or without him.”
