Henry Zaga To Play Sunspot in New Mutants

The cast of New Mutants continues to expand as X-Men characters Sunspot have been cast. Breakout star Henry Zaga from 13 Reasons Why will be portraying Sunspot for the upcoming film directed by Josh Boone.

13 Reasons Why actor Henry Zaga was in talks to take the role of Sunspot in the X-Men spin-off New Mutants, according to The Tracking Board. In the film, Henry Zaga will also play his alter ego the hotheaded Brazilian mutant Roberto da Costa. According to The Tracking Board, the site confirms earlier rumors that the 13 Reasons Why actor will indeed be playing the character, who was last played by Adan Canto in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Here’s hoping that the film gets a comic book accurate version this time around.

The actor will be joined by the likes of Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Charlie Heaton, who are playing Wolfsbane, Magik, and Cannonball respectfully. The film is being marketed as a horror film with elements of the teen flicks of the 80s with the main focus on The Demon Bear Saga. The only ones left to cast are Mirage and Warlock. We should soon be getting more news on casting for the rest of the characters as we get closer to production. What do you guys think of the latest casting? New Mutants is about to start production in July in preparation for it to release next year in 2018.
