Cara Dune Will Not be Recast in The Mandalorian

Following The Mandalorian actress Gina Carano‘s contract not be renewed for Season 3 of The Mandalorian or any Star Wars projects, her character will not be recast in the Disney+ TV series or the Star Wars universe. Many had thought that since Gina Carano’s Cara Dune was such a popular character, that there was a chance that the character would be recast. Why waste all of that character building and background work?

It has now been made clear that the aforementioned is the route Disney is taking and that the Dune character will not appear in future episodes of The Mandalorian.

Lucasfilm was quick to extinguish any rumors of a recasting, saying:

the Cara Dune role on The Mandalorian is not expected to be recast and that she was not part of the Dec. 10 presentation, nor was she engaged in negotiations for future work.

That makes it official – the eighth episode of The Mandalorian: Season 2 will be the last time Cara Dune appears in The Mandalorian or in any Star Wars project.
