Warner Bros. is making a Carl Sagan biographical Movie

Carl Sagan

Warner Bros. is developing a biographical drama based on astrophysicist Carl Sagan. Carl Sagan has been a renowned figure in the field of astrology. Most may know him more for his frequent appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, writing hundreds of papers and books like The Dragon of Eden and Pale Blue Dot and co-writing and starring in the TV series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage. That show even went on to get a recent remake with Family Guy’s Seth Macfarlane as executive producer and hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Warner Bros. has assigned Lynda Obst and Ann Druyan to produce the film and hired Deadfall writer Zach Dean to pen the script. These people are familiar to the subject matter of the upcoming film and the company. Obst was recently one of the producers of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar and 1997’s Contact, which was based on one of Sagan’s novels. Dean joined the WB to write Methuselah last year with David Heyman. Druyan was Sagan’s wife for fifteen years until his death in 1996. She was also the producer of Contact and she produced and wrote the remake of her husband’s show, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey.

Warner Bros. has yet to announce any more information regarding the Carl Sagan movie. There isn’t even specifications regarding what its story will touch upon (besides Mr. Sagan). It is possible that the film would either be biographical or discuss a specific point in his career. Whatever the case may be, Warner Bros. is proficient at promotion and will let it be known when the time is right what the film entails.
