ANIMAL KINGDOM (2016) TV Show Trailer: Crime Family Recruits a New Member [TNT]

Ellen Barkin Scott Speedman Finn Cole Jake Weary Ben Robson Shawn Hatosy Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom Promo. TNT‘s Animal Kingdom (2016) TV show trailer stars Ellen Barkin, Scott Speedman, Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, and Jake Weary. Animal Kingdom‘s plot synopsis: “A 17-year-old boy moves in with his grandmother and uncles in their Southern California beach town after his mother ODs.”

Movies-to-TV shows are en-vogue right now. Limitless is already on air with Rush Hour and Taken following suit. Animal Kingdom will easily be the most intense of the projects. Ellen Barkin would not have chosen this project if it weren’t top notch. She also saw what Jacki Weaver did with the film version of the Janine ‘Smurf’ Cody role.

On the inspiration for the original film and the TV series, as well as a key theme in the series:

I think [David Michôd] would say the inspiration for the movie came from the Pettingill family, an Australian crime family. They’re a little over the top. I believe the matriarch of that family wound up with a glass eye. She got shot through the doorway by an adversary. I think the material is an example of truth being a little stranger than fiction and she wound up being a mustache-twirly villain. We’re portraying a mother who infantilizes her sons, warps them while [she] infantilizes them.

Animal Kingdom also stars Finn Cole, Daniella Alonso, Molly Gordon, Devon Sawa, Ryan Dorsey, Anna Belknap, Karen Malina White, Ana Flavia Gavlak, Gloria Garayua, and Mark Kubr.
