Plot Synopsis

Annette‘s plot synopsis: “Los Angeles, today. Henry (Adam Driver) is a stand-up comedian with a fierce sense of humor who falls in love with Ann (Marion Cotillard), a world-renowned opera singer. Under the spotlight, they form a passionate and glamorous couple. With the birth of their first child, Annette, a mysterious little girl with an exceptional destiny, their lives are turned upside down. A film by visionary director Leos Carax (Holy Motors), with story and music by Ron & Russell Mael, of Sparks, this original musical is a journey of love, passion, and fame.”

The film stars Adam Driver as an experimental L.A. stand-up comedian and Marion Cotillard as a world-renowned opera singer. Their characters are caught up in a whirlwind romance. They are having their first child together. It’s a baby girl who they named Annette — and she will, no doubt, have an exceptional future.

Love, passion, and fame are just some of the themes being explored in this experimental musical drama, which features original music and lyrics by prolific musician brothers Ron and Russell Mael. They are better known as the founding members of the LA pop-new wave band “Sparks.” Ron and Russell also wrote the original story for the film.
